Job Title

Deaf/HH Construction Trades Instructor

To provide quality instruction to Deaf/HH students in the fundamentals of Construction Trades.

Prepare syllabus and daily lesson plans and hands-on projects for the practical application of the curriculum

Prepare and deliver instructional materials in ASL to assist student learning

Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress

Provide individual and group instruction in the implementation of the curriculum

Use a variety of instructional strategies to properly monitor and assess student performance

Prepare pre/post-tests and performance evaluations for students at the completion of each unit

Use relevant technology to support instruction

Maintain and modify curriculum to remain current and up to date with industry standards

Maintaining accurate and complete records of student attendance and progress throughout the course

Observe and evaluate student performance and development

Order student textbooks, supplies, materials, and equipment necessary for the implementation for the job training program

Provide appropriate safety training

Effective supervision of students

Monitor employment tracking of students and assist in collecting placement data

Maintain all safety standards as mandated by OSHA and the BOCES 2 organization

Consistent and effective program recruitment

Certification Requirements:
Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) 2-5 years of current experience working in the field of construction trades Strong knowledge of the content area Teaching experience preferred but not required Certificate or advanced credential preferred but not required Other

Qualifications:

Must be able to use computers for attendance, grade management, email, and other applications necessary to fulfil the requirements of the position.
