Teaching Assistant Full Time
The Teaching Assistant supports the classroom teacher in providing instruction and individualized support to middle school students with autism in an 8:1:2 special education classroom. Students use a variety of communication methods, including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with classroom instruction and implementation of IEP goals.
- Support students with communication using AAC devices.
- Provide academic, behavioral, social, and daily living support.
- Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and supervision.
- Collaborate with teachers and related service providers.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
This position may include assisting students with toileting and personal care. An additional Activities of Daily Living stipend is available for staff assigned to these responsibilities.
