Role Description

The SWD Teacher & Biology Teacher is a full-time, on-site position located in Bronx, NY, responsible for teaching high school biology and supporting students with disabilities in inclusive and specialized settings. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering standards-aligned biology lessons, differentiating instruction for diverse learning needs, and implementing IEP accommodations and modifications. The educator will assess student progress, provide ongoing feedback, and maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and special education documentation.

Additional duties include collaborating with general and special education colleagues, participating in IEP meetings, communicating regularly with caregivers, and contributing to school-wide initiatives, professional development, and a positive, safe classroom environment.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong teaching skills and be a qualified teacher with experience in secondary education.
  • Candidates should possess expertise in Biology and the ability to design and deliver rigorous, standards-based science instruction.
  • Candidates should possess effective lesson planning skills, including differentiation and accommodations for students with disabilities.
  • Candidates should possess clear, professional communication skills for interacting with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Relevant qualifications include appropriate state teaching certification (Special Education and/or Biology), a bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a related field, and experience working with diverse learners.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include familiarity with IEP processes, classroom management skills, data-informed instruction, and commitment to equity and inclusive education.
