Garden School is an independent Nursery through Grade 12 school located in Jackson Heights, Queens, committed to providing a student-centered, engaging, and inclusive educational experience. We are seeking a warm, dependable, and flexible Student Support Associate to join our community and provide support in three key areas of school life: the dining hall, reception, and our after-school program. This is a full-time role with hours from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The Student Support Associate plays an important role in creating a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for students, families, and visitors throughout the school day. Successful candidates will demonstrate professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and a willingness to assist wherever needed. Responsibilities land in three key areas:
- Dining Hall:
Managing the “check-out” portion of the dining hall, supervising and supporting students during lunch. - Reception:
Staffing the phone for several hours a day, helping to maintain an orderly and welcoming reception area, greeting visitors and assisting with basic administrative tasks. - After school:
Supervising and supporting students during the after-school program.
The Student Support Associate is expected to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues, use basic technology tools for communication and administrative responsibilities, exercise sound judgment and professionalism in all interactions, and follow all school policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English required; bi-lingual a plus.
- Basic technology skills, including email, word processing, and the ability to learn school-based systems.
- Previous experience working with children or in a school, customer service, or administrative setting preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a fast-paced school environment.
- Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students.
- Availability to work from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the school year.
Salary Range: 25,500 - 31,000
