Compensation: $40/hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Location: New York, NY (On‑site at LIU Brooklyn for 11th Grade and Baruch College for 10th Grade)
Hours: Up to 10 hours/programming week
Schedule: 8:45-3:05 PM (Saturday)
Position OverviewAssociate Instructors will join SEO's community of passionate educators to implement a rigorous college‑prep curriculum for motivated high school students. They co‑teach alongside Instructors, facilitate classroom instruction, run mini‑lessons, organize small group and one‑on‑one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support. Self‑leaders, they step into classes when Instructors are absent and do not handle grading.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction & Facilitation
- Co‑teach four periods including ELA and Advisory.
- Lead the class independently when covering an absent Instructor.
- Follow provided lesson plans and achieve lesson objectives, adhering to SEO's rigorous instruction standards.
- Navigate instructional technologies (Brightspace, Nearpod, GSuit, Zoom chat) within a blended learning framework.
- Read, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials before teaching, adjusting pacing and activities to meet student needs.
- Tutoring and Academic Support
- Host open‑door lunch tutoring sessions to review class content, remediate missed work, and develop new skills.
- Classroom Culture
- Maintain responsive and restorative approaches that foster student connection to content and positive community relationships.
- Collaboration with SEO Staff and Instructors
- Attend all scheduled meetings, professional development trainings, check‑ins, and debriefs.
- Respond promptly to emails and Zoom chats.
- Coaching and Feedback
- Meet with the assigned instructional coach at least twice per semester to receive and implement classroom observation feedback.

Saturday, 9/12 - Saturday Academy Sessions: 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, 10/17, 10/24, 11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 12/5, 12/12
