Probationary Position:
Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) Special Education Teacher – Grades 4/5
The Irvington Union Free School District seeks a dedicated, collaborative, and student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our Grade 4/5 team at Main Street School.
The successful candidate will have experience implementing the instructional models of an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom and a strong commitment to inclusive practices that support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all learners.
Responsibilities Include:
- Collaborating closely with a general education co-teacher to plan, deliver, and assess high-quality instruction for a diverse group of learners.
- Designing and implementing differentiated instruction that meets the needs of students with varying learning profiles.
- Creating an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, supported, and challenged.
- Developing and monitoring IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications to ensure student success.
- Working collaboratively with related service providers, interventionists, school psychologist, counselor, administrators, and families.
- Utilizing data to inform instructional decisions and monitor student progress.
- Supporting students' executive functioning, self-advocacy, and social-emotional development.
- Maintaining compliance with all special education regulations and documentation requirements.
Qualifications:
- New York State Certification in Special Education.
- Experience teaching in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) setting preferred.
- Training in Orton-Gillingham or other structured literacy approaches is a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility, creativity, and commitment to inclusive educational practices.
- Ability to foster strong partnerships with colleagues and families in support of student success.
