Part Time Music Instructor – All College Choir

Suny Niagara has a need for a part‑time Music Instructor for our All College Choir. The ensemble is a vocal ensemble devoted to performing choral literature, focusing on choral styles, vocal production, and performing several times each semester on‑ and off‑campus. (Usually offered Fall and Spring semesters.) The course is taught in person on our Sanborn, NY campus. Classes involve rehearsing and performance of selected works.

Students will rehearse selected pieces, perfecting notes, rhythms, and working musical concepts such as tone quality, phrasing, dynamics, articulations, and balance. Students will be expected to sing and play upon instructor request and at all performances.

• Teach course on campus.
• Track attendance as needed.
• Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester.
• Report grades at the conclusion of the semester.

Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $1,008 per lecture hour / $903 per lab hour.

Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co‑workers, supervisors, and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must be able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.

• Three years of experience teaching at a high school or college level.

• Master’s Degree in Music or related field.
• Experience using Microsoft Office software i.e., Excel and Word.
• Experience with the Brightspace learning management system.
