Position Overview
Part‑time Philosophy Instructor – teaching introductory courses in Philosophy in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Division. Courses are typically three lecture hours per week and may be face‑to‑face, blended, hyflex, or online (Zoom or asynchronous). The instructor must be available for campus presence in Sanborn, NY or Niagara Falls, NY when required.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in the agreed delivery format.
- Hold office hours (in person or virtual as appropriate).
- Report assessment of student learning outcomes at the conclusion of the term.
- Report grades at the conclusion of the term.
Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population; effective communication with students, colleagues, and the campus community; develop, prepare, and present instructional material; operate computers; physically perform duties; adjust teaching to ADA provisions.
Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree or ABD in Philosophy or related field.
- Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated by application materials.
- Ph.D. in Philosophy or related field.
- Prior college‑level teaching experience and experience with classroom technologies.
- Experience with a learning management system such as D2L Brightspace.
- Online teaching experience, particularly with training based on OSCQR through SUNY Online or a SUNY campus.
- Evidence of successful teaching of non‑traditional students.
$1,008 per lecture hour.
