Position Summary

The Katz School of Science and Health at Yeshiva University invites applications for an Adjunct Faculty member to teach PhD to Professor, a graduate-level course designed to prepare STEM PhD students for successful teaching careers in higher education.

The course focuses on evidence-based teaching practices, course design, active learning, classroom management, assessment, educational technology, and professional development. Students develop the practical teaching skills and instructional materials needed to teach undergraduate and graduate STEM courses while building a professional teaching portfolio.

The Adjunct Appointment will be for:

  • One 3-credit graduate course for a 15-week semester
  • One 2-hour class each week
  • In-person instruction at the Katz School of Science and Health's Midtown Manhattan campus
Position Responsibilities
  • Teach one graduate-level course over a 15-week semester.
  • Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction using the approved course curriculum.
  • Facilitate class discussions, activities, and teaching demonstrations.
  • Mentor STEM PhD students in effective college teaching practices.
  • Evaluate student assignments, teaching demonstrations, and final teaching portfolios.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student learning and professional growth.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and grading records in Canvas.
  • Communicate regularly with students and respond to questions in a timely manner.
  • Hold office hours as required by the program.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and instructional team to ensure successful course delivery.

Experience & Educational Background

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree required.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching at the university level.
  • Experience teaching STEM students in higher education.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and mentoring skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Higher Education, STEM Education, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting or developing college faculty.
  • Experience designing college courses or curricula.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based teaching and learning practices.
  • Experience with active learning, assessment design, and educational technology.
  • Experience using Canvas or another learning management system.
  • Experience integrating AI and emerging technologies into higher education teaching.
Salary Range

$8,000 - $8,000
