Postdoctoral Fellow in Higher Education Program Management and Assessment

The Program for Research Initiatives in Science and Mat h (PRISM) at John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York (CUNY) is seeking a doctoral-level graduate in STEM or in Education to join our program as Postdoctoral Fellow in Higher Education Program Management and Assessment. Under the general supervision of the Associate Program Director, the Postdoctoral Fellow:
Serves as coordinator of an interdisciplinary STEM undergraduate research program, performs research and assessment on programmatic approaches of new and/or established STEM initiatives, and develops curricular activities centered in the process of research;
Performs many activities independently, with varying degrees of supervision depending on the scope and complexity of the project;
May from time to time supervise undergraduate students for specific assignments;
Writes grant proposals and/or abstracts or articles for peer-reviewed publications.

The role will be somewhat like an IRACDA, but it will not be associated to “bench” research. Instead, our postdoc combines higher education administration and program management with research and assessment of programmatic approaches for curricular and co-curricular activities in STEM.The ideal candidate is a recent PhD graduate in the natural, physical, biomedical, computer sciences, or in STEM Education who would like to develop their skills and career inhigher education administration.

Preference will be given to candidates who have already some higher education experience outside of the bench (developing/running programs, teaching, evaluation and assessment, etc.) and who want to develop their skills away from the bench to work in higher ed administration.

Update 4/8/2025:
This position is funded through an NYSED Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program Award, RFP – GC#25-002, which has been tentatively awarded to John Jay College of Criminal Justice for the  grant cycle that starts on 7/1/2025. As requested by NYSED “No work should be initiated until the contract receives the formal approval of the Attorney General and the State Comptroller,” which might impact the start date of the position.
