Chemistry Teacher

Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School (LuHi) is an independent Christian school serving students in grades 6-12 from Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens counties in New York. LuHi seeks a full-time Chemistry teacher for our High School for the  school year.

The ideal candidate is an educator who works collaboratively with other educators, seeks partnership, and works to see students as individuals, meeting them where they are in order to facilitate growth through rigorous academics coupled with appropriate support.

Responsibilities will include curriculum development for courses focused on hands-on application of content and skills specific to the Science discipline, and daily lesson planning, preparation for fluid moves between virtual and in-person instruction, grading and feedback, participation in professional development, and support of and participation in campus ministry as needed.

• Teach 6 sections of HS Chemistry, including AP Chemistry, (note: a full load at LuHi is 6 sections)
• Collaborate and plan with other Science teachers and high school educators, as well as school leaders
• Other duties as assigned by school leadership

• Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred)
• Certification in Chemistry preferred
• Experience teaching AP Chemistry preferred, or willingness to attend AP Summer Institute

• Salary Range: $52,000-$74,000 (commensurate with experience)
