Science Teacher-Middle School Summary
Under the general supervision of the School Director, to develop students' skills and competence in one or more fields of science, including general science, earth science, biology, physiology, chemistry, physics and STEM education; develops students Engineering and Science practices, and problem-solving, as well as an understanding of the application of science in the solution of practical problems.
CompensationBase Salary-Certified-$73,500, $2,000 Testing Grade (Adv. Degrees $3,000 for masters, $5,000 for doctorate). $200/ year for applicable experience.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Masters prefered)
- Valid NY Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the use of various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.
- Knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability, personality and interests and learning/motivational techniques.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
- Knowledge of Smart board functions and tools.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students, faculty etc.

- Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense.
- Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation.
- Provide evidence Tdap (Tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis) Rubella, Measles, Mumps, Tuberculosis/PPD Test and Varicella
