Location: New York

Our client, an organization dedicated to supporting young adults with diverse learning needs, is seeking a Special Education Instructor to join their team. As a Special Education Instructor, you will be part of the Brooklyn-based education and vocational training program supporting young adults in developing essential academic and life skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy, patience, and a passion for fostering inclusive learning environments, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location:

Brooklyn, NY Pay Range: $28 - $30

Shift: 7:30AM to 4:30PM, Monday through Friday Duration: 3-6 months What's the Job?
  • Collaborate with support services staff to evaluate and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each participant's needs.
  • Modify curriculum materials and lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring inclusive instruction.
  • Deliver engaging and adaptive lessons that promote academic growth and life skills development for participants with special needs.
  • Provide necessary accommodations and support during assessments, tests, and assignments to ensure equitable access to education.
  • Monitor participant progress regularly and adjust teaching strategies to meet evolving educational goals.
What's Needed?
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Special Education certification or relevant teaching certification.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with special needs.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and accommodations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, along with empathy and patience.
