Spanish Teacher, Elementary School
Location: New York
Salary Range: $66,000 - $69,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education.

We are seeking a full-time elementary (Grades K-3) Spanish Associate for September 2026 – June 2027. Spanish at Dalton is taught through the three modes of communication (interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational), with attention to the cultural products, practices, and perspectives of the Spanish-speaking world. We are committed to ongoing curricular and pedagogical inclusion work, and we seek a candidate who shares that commitment and who can contribute to our efforts.
Our ideal candidate has K-5 language teaching experience and native-like proficiency in Spanish. Language teaching/methodology training and understanding of ACTFL standards and proficiency guidelines is a plus.
- Plan and lead 3 rd Grade Spanish classes alongside a Lead Teacher;
Serve as a Lead Teacher on days when the Lead Teacher is absent; - Enact and co-design engaging curricula and lessons, collaborate with others in the department;
- Work one-on-one with students daily for support and enrichment;
- Serve as a day-to-day sub on days when other First Program Spanish teachers are absent.
- Assess and document students’ academic and behavioral needs;
- Write student narrative reports each trimester;
- Supervise lunch, recess, and dismissal duties;
- Performing other duties as assigned by Department Chair and FP Administration.
- Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred;
- Minimum of three years relevant teaching experience in an elementary school setting strongly preferred;
- Demonstrated commitment to belonging and inclusive practices, with respect to pedagogy, curriculum, and community engagement;
- Strong organizational skills and executive functioning skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Facility with relevant educational technologies;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize multiple, competing tasks and demands;
- Quick learner with a strong work ethic and willingness to develop new skills.
