Position Summary

The Education Program Manager – Elementary & Middle School Success provides leadership for educational programming serving students in grades 1–8.

This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality educational experiences that support academic growth, leadership development, and positive youth development. Serving as the subject matter expert for younger learners, this position reports to and works closely with the Director of Education & Student Success to ensure programs are engaging, culturally responsive, and aligned with organizational goals.

The Education Program Manager – Elementary & Middle School Success supervises and provides guidance and support to teachers, tutors, and instructional staff while building strong relationships with students, families, and school partners.

Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Curriculum Development
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of elementary and middle school programming.
  • Design age-appropriate curriculum and learning experiences aligned with student needs and organizational goals.
  • Ensure programming incorporates academic enrichment, leadership development, communication skills, and social-emotional learning.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen student engagement and academic outcomes.
  • Support summer and after-school program planning and implementation.
Student & Family Engagement
  • Serve as a key point of contact for elementary and middle school students and families.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, caregivers, and school partners.
  • Support individualized learning strategies and academic interventions.
  • Coordinate tutoring and additional academic supports.
  • Facilitate family communication, workshops, and educational resources.
Teacher & Tutor Leadership
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of teachers, tutors, and teaching assistants.
  • Provide instructional coaching, feedback, and guidance.
  • Promote consistent, high-quality instructional practices.
  • Support classroom management and positive learning environments.
  • Coordinate instructional assignments and student support.
Data & Program Evaluation
  • Monitor academic progress and program outcomes for K–8 students.
  • Maintain accurate student records and educational documentation.
  • Analyze program data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support grant reporting and organizational evaluation efforts.
Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the Director of Education & Student Success and the Education Manager– High School & Postsecondary Success to create a seamless educational pathway for students.
  • Partner with internal teams including Development, Marketing, Operations, and Leadership.
  • Participate in department planning and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Youth Development, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working with elementary and/or middle school students.
  • Experience designing curriculum and educational programming.
  • Experience supporting or supervising teachers, tutors, or instructional staff.
  • Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and youth development.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Education or related field.
  • Classroom teaching experience.
  • Experience working within nonprofit or after-school education programs.
  • Familiarity with NYC educational systems and community-based programming.
