Substitute Teacher 2026-2027

Wappingers Central School District Substitute Teaching Positions

The Wappingers Central School District is seeking substitute teaching candidates in all subject areas. Long term assignments may become available to substitutes with NYS teaching certifications throughout the school year.

Certified substitute teachers will be paid $120 per day. Uncertified substitute teachers will be paid $112.00 per day.

Upon completion of the hiring process, including all mandatory paperwork, candidates for all substitute positions must receive WCSD Board approval as a WCSD substitute prior to starting assignment date.

In addition to a resume, cover letter, and proof of 60+ college credits (or valid NYS teaching certification), candidates will need 3 letters of recommendation that meet the following criteria:

• Written by external (non WCSD employees)
• Clearly stating the professional supervisory relationship to the applicant
• Clearly visible calendar date within the past 18 months
• Hand signed (not a computer generated font) by the writer
