Part Time Tuscarora Instructor

General Description

SUNY Niagara is seeking a part‑time Tuscarora instructor to teach a Tuscarora Language course at the associate degree level within the Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The instructor will deliver high‑quality instruction in both face‑to‑face and online modalities, assess student learning outcomes, advise students, develop curriculum and course materials, and participate in departmental and college‑wide initiatives. The instructor will provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise and demonstrate a commitment to student success through excellence in teaching and learning.

Classes are held on the SUNY Niagara main campus in Sanborn, NY, during days or evenings.

• Teach course on campus
• Report assessment of student learning outcomes at the conclusion of the term
• Report grades at the conclusion of the term
• Attend and participate in meetings as necessary

Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population; to advise students for classes, transfer options, and career opportunities in the field; to be an active member of the division and serve on representing committees; to speak in front of groups of people; to communicate effectively with students, co‑workers, supervisors, and the campus community; to develop, prepare and present information;

to operate computers; and to physically perform the duties of the position.

• Experience teaching language courses.

• Master’s or Ph.D.
• Three years of teaching experience at a community college
• Experience with student advisement
• Experience with administrative functions such as program assessment and course development
• Experience using publisher‑based educational technology (or OER) and learning management systems such as Brightspace
