Cornell Cooperative Extension of Genesee County has an opening for a full-time Digital Literacy Educator II working from the Batavia, NY office.

The CCE of Genesee County Digital Literacy Educator will provide opportunities and experiences for participants to improve their lives and communities through electronic interactions and other digital literacy skills. The Educator is a subject matter resource for current and emerging digital technologies working to build the capacity of volunteer mentors to utilize technology for enhancing outreach, education and civic engagement. The Digital Literacy Educator will interact with the public through delivery of skill building program and assists supervisor in activities to foster Extension programs with community leaders and discover best practices and integration of new tools and material with relevant staff at Cornell University.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's Degree with experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Bachelor's Degree plus 4 years transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience may substitute.
  • Relevant field experience in Cooperative Extension, Information Management, Adult Education, Communications, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read and write proficiently) in English.
  • Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community and professional leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, teach and evaluate informal educational programs through a variety of delivery methods to reach individuals and groups.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
  • Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently, organize workload, handle administrative detail, work under pressure and establish priorities according to Association requirements.
  • Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks, deadlines, requirements, and priorities to complete work in a timely manner and within established deadlines.
  • Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.
  • Ability to work in a typical office environment which may include lifting, moving, and/or transporting office supplies, work related materials, and equipment with or without accommodation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Coursework in areas of education, computer science, information science and communications preferred.
  • Three years relevant experience, knowledge, and experience in similar programing.
  • Experience in guiding and collaborating with volunteers.
  • Ability to identify and develop volunteer leadership.
  • Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal, written and visual channels using traditional methods and educational tools, as well as electronic technology (e.g., video, audio, computers, etc.).
  • Ability to identify and utilize program resources from the organization and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Development - 20%
  • Apply subject matter knowledge to assist with developing educational strategies to meet identified program objectives and goals as well meet changing local and/or regional issues.
  • Assist with developing relevant educational programs, materials, and activities to meet identified needs and to carry out program priorities and goals through a variety of community strategies.
  • Assist Supervisor in research, identification and selection of resources and activities necessary to implement initiatives and projects.
  • Assist Supervisor in making programmatic changes based on program evaluation outcomes and to meet changing local priorities.
