Position: PRODiG+ Fellow - Criminal Justice - Farmingdale State College
Location: Farmingdale

Job Description:

Farmingdale State College invites applications for the Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth plus (PRODiG+) Post-doctoral Fellow position in the Center for Criminal Justice Studies. PRODiG+ is designed to (1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) strengthening the pipeline for retention and support of these candidates.

The fellowship is further designed to provide post-doctoral students interested in an academic career with a mentored experience within the academic area of Criminal Justice. Over the course of the two-year fellowship, the fellow will be engaged in teaching to include a combination of lower division and/or upper division courses in the areas of criminal justice technologies (e.g., Artificial Intelligence (AI), crime/intelligence analysis, crime mapping, forensic/crime scene), with an expected teaching load of two courses per semester.

In addition, the position will expose the fellow to departmental committee work, student advisement, and/or curriculum development. The successful candidate is encouraged to engage in scholarly research and apply for relevant grants. This position will provide the fellow with direct mentorship from a faculty member within the Center for Criminal Justice Studies, as well as available campus-wide mentorship opportunities.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

To participate in PRODiG+, candidates are required to:

* Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

* Have a PhD or Terminal Degree in a field related to Criminal Justice from an accredited institution completed prior to start date.

* Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/ unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.

* Ability to relate to and work with students in various aspects of their academic pursuits.

* Excellent written and oral communications skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to candidates who are:

* Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows from a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are Ameri Corps alumni, or are veterans.

* Specialized in the area of technology use and application within the criminal justice domain (specifically Artificial Intelligence (AI), crime/intelligence analysis, crime mapping, forensic/crime scene, and/or related technologies)
