Position: Coordinator II – Student Life & Leadership (PT)

JOB DUTIES

The Part-Time Coordinator II, Student Life and Leadership supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of student engagement programs, leadership initiatives, New Student Orientation, and campus events that promote student involvement, belonging, and success. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, student organizations, and campus partners, the Coordinator assists with leadership development, student programming, the Student Ambassador Program, and departmental operations while providing day-to-day supervision of work-study student employees.

This position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and maintain a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, to support student programs and College events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate and oversee the New Student Orientation Program each semester in collaboration with campus departments and constituent groups.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement student engagement programs and educational initiatives that promote leadership development, civic engagement, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, social justice, and student belonging throughout the academic year.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Department to develop promotional strategies, branding, and communication materials that increase awareness of programs, events, and student involvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate training opportunities and educational workshops for student leaders, club advisors, and student organizations, including leadership development, Title IX, diversity and inclusion, effective communication, team building, project management, and organizational policies and procedures. Maintain related resource materials, newsletters, and procedural documentation.
  • Coordinate the Student Ambassador Program by supporting recruitment, training, mentoring, and engagement initiatives that foster leadership, campus involvement, and a sense of belonging.
  • Provide operational support for College-wide programs, special events, commencement activities, institutional committees, and departmental initiatives. Serve as a club advisor as assigned.
  • Assist in the development, administration, and monitoring of departmental and student life operating budgets, including tracking expenditures and revenues.
  • Coordinate and deliver student engagement programs, activities, and events at the James Kerney Campus to promote an equitable student experience across campus locations.
  • Assess program participation and effectiveness by collecting feedback, monitoring engagement, and recommending improvements to enhance the quality and impact of student life programming.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 4-6 work-study student employees within the Student Life and Leadership Department by providing day-to-day direction, training, scheduling, and oversight of assigned work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Please note this position is part-time with a maximum of 24 hours worked per week.

A flexible work schedule is required to support student programs, events, and College activities, which includes occasional evening and weekend hours.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions while supporting student programs, events, and campus activities. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.

Positions in this class typically require: ability to use a key board, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work:

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple programs, events, and projects while managing competing priorities.
  • Ability to develop and facilitate student engagement programs, workshops, and leadership activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to utilize student information systems, databases, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing inclusive, student-centered services while upholding the College's mission and values.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education, Communications, Counseling, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
