Elementary Art Teacher

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Lower School Art Teacher starting in Fall 2026 at an independent school in Locust Valley, NY.

• Lead visual arts curriculum for students from Preschool through Fourth Grade.
• Foster a joyful and inclusive art studio environment where young artists learn to express themselves.
• Design curriculum that prioritizes the creative process for students encouraging curiosity, experimentation, sensory discovery, and motor-skill development.
• Evaluate each student’s progress in their knowledge and skills.
• Communicate with parents to discuss the individual student’s progress.
• Manage and update campus visual art displays.
• Participate in grade, division, and full faculty meetings as required.
• Develop and enrich professional skills and knowledge by attending seminars, conferences, and professional development sessions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Art Education, or Art field required. Master's degree strongly preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience teaching to early childhood or elementary-aged children.
• Passion for visual art, art history, and the fine arts.
• Knowledge of varied teaching strategies to differentiate learning.
• Eager to work collaboratively with other teachers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• U.S. Work Authorization required.
