Mott Haven Village Preparatory High School is looking for educators with NYSED licensure. We have positions in Math 7-12 and Special Ed/Math or Special Ed/Generalist with a strong affinity for math. We ll be working with Prisms using VR in our math classes this year, and supporting all of our teachers with coaching from Mosaic IP. We have a strong, collaborative community, supported by NYC Outward Bound Schools through our Crew Initiative.

Responsibilities
- Innovative Math Instruction: Deliver engaging, standards-aligned math instruction utilizing Prisms VR technology to help students visualize and master complex mathematical concepts.
- Co-Teaching & Small Group Leadership (Special Education Roles): Co-teach 3–4 Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) math classes in collaboration with a general education partner, and lead 1–2 small-group self-contained/special classes in the same content area.
- Collaborative Professional Growth: Participate actively in instructional coaching provided by Mosaic IP and engage in continuous professional development with your department and co-teachers.
- Whole-Child Mentorship (Crew Model): Lead a small-group Crew in partnership with NYC Outward Bound Schools
, fostering student social-emotional growth, academic advisement, and strong community relationships. - Early College Support: Help build foundational math skills to prepare students for college-level coursework (MAT
120) through our partnership with CUNY Hostos Community College. - Culture & Accountability: Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations by actively participating in restorative practices and supporting school-wide culture initiatives.
- All other roles and responsibilities according to the NYCPS and UFT Contract for Teachers.
Required Qualifications
- NYSED Certification: Valid New York State teaching certification in one of the following areas:
- Students with Disabilities / Special Education (Grades 7–12) – Mathematics
- Students with Disabilities / Special Education Generalist (Grades 7–12) with a strong affinity and comfort level in math
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred or required per state certification pathway).
- Work Authorization: Authorized to work within New York City Public Schools (NYCPS).
Preferred skills and attributes:
- Tech-Forward Mindset: Enthusiasm or experience integrating educational technology (e.g., Prisms VR) into daily math instruction.
- Collaborative Spirit: Strong interpersonal and communication skills suited for effective co-teaching (ICT) and partnering with general ed/special ed teammates.
- Student-Centered Approach: Commitment to relationship-building and whole-child development through restorative practices and advisement/Crew models.
- Adaptability & Coaching Readiness: Openness to receiving structured 1-on-1 instructional coaching (via Mosaic IP) and implementing real-time feedback.
Work schedule: According to the NYCPS/UFT Contract. After school work with students and teams can be compensated according to per session guidelines (pending budget availability).
Salary: According to the NYCPS/UFT Contract ($ 71,314to $150,236)
Work location: 701 Saint Ann s Ave, Bronx, NY 10455. All work is in-person. Parking is available. Near the 2 and 5 trains at 3rd Ave/149th St or Jackson Ave.
School hours: 8:00AM to 3:20PM on Monday; 8:00AM to 3:00PM on Tuesday; 8:00AM to 2:20PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
