Education The Calhoun School, a progressive independent school located on Manhattan's Upper West Side, is seeking a part-time MS Spanish teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with middle school students in an innovative, supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities Developing curricula and implementing lessons that incorporate a range of learning approaches to both support and challenge diverse learners to reach their fullest potential

Cultivating a love of Spanish through interactive, joyful learning

Collaborating with other educators in developing integrated, project-based curricula

Keeping anecdotal and assessment records to inform thoughtful, comprehensive narrative reports

Create a positive learning environment for students and inspire students to hold themselves to a high standard of academics and character.

Maintain consistent relationships with families, including phone calls, emails, and conferences

Commitment to school-wide initiatives and alignment with Calhoun’s mission and values

The faculty member is required to stand, walk, sit, run, handle tools/controls, balance, talk or hear. They must occasionally lift/move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the faculty member is expected to supervise students in the park and on field trips in rain, snow, or humid conditions. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate.
