Position Summary: The Division of Early Childhood Education (DECE) supports the operational and programmatic functions of early childhood education programs for N ew Y ork C ity children in elementary schools, Pre-K Centers, and New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) contracted settings included in Community Based Organizations (CBO) and through Family Childcare (FCC) programs. DECE provides families with access to high quality, inclusive early childhood programs for children birth to five, in rich diverse settings, supporting children’s growth and development.

Working together with families and programs, DECE ensures that children are engaged, nurtured, and supported.

The Workforce Development Coordinator will work closely with the Manager of Workforce Development to support DECE’s efforts in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of early childhood education professionals.

The Coordinator will play a vital role in assisting the Manager of Workforce Development with the implementation of strategies to recruit, train, support, and retain early childhood educators within the NYCPS, CBO and FCC cohorts of early childhood education programs. Performs related work.

Key Relationships: DECE Senior Leadership Team, Director of Workforce Development, DECE Workforce Development Managers and Coordinators, Staffing Support Coordinator, Director of Policy Development, Director of Program Policy, Associate Director of Quality Assurance, DECE Field Offices, DECE, Leadership Coaches, Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality (TRQ), Division of Human Resources (DHR), Higher Education Organizations, Community Superintendents, Office of Student Enrollment (OSE), Office of District Planning (ODP), Division of Financial Operations, other central NYCPS offices and New York City early childhood education providers of all settings.

• Assist the Workforce Development team in coordinating various initiatives to support the recruitment, training, and retention of early childhood educators.
• Provide administrative support for recruitment efforts, including scheduling meetings with TRQ, interviews, processing applications, and maintaining copious records.
• Assist in the organization and facilitation of training programs, workshops, and professional development sessions for early childhood educators.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records and documentation related to workforce development activities, including participant attendance, evaluation feedback, and program outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess training needs and gather feedback to inform the development of future workforce development initiatives.
• Assist with the development and dissemination of resources and materials to support the ongoing learning and skill development of early childhood educators.
• Serve as the point of contact for early childhood educators seeking information and support related to workforce development opportunities.
• Support data collection and analysis efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of workforce development initiatives and track progress toward organizational goals.
• Stay informed about trends, research findings, and best practices in early childhood education and workforce development, contributing in sights to enhance program planning and implementation.

Qualification Requirements:

Minimum

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
• High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
• Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in “1” above.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in early childhood education, human resources, organizational development, or a related field.
