Assistant Clinical Professor, School of Law
The University at Buffalo School of Law invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track assistant clinical professor to direct its Family Violence and Women’s Rights clinic, specifically in the areas of Domestic Violence and related Family Law. This is a three-year contract, indefinitely renewable if appropriate progress is achieved, with potential advancement to ranks of Associate Clinical Professor and Clinical Professor in subsequent contract terms.
PositionResponsibilities
- All aspects of teaching, supervising, and directing a Domestic Violence and Family Law Clinic, including curriculum development and maintaining an active clinical legal practice within the local community.
- Assisting with planning, drafting, applying for, and securing grants to support the clinic and clinical department.
- Managing grants and state funding, including internal oversight for deadlines, records, and reporting as well as monitoring federal, state, and local grants in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and guidelines.
- Additional teaching obligations with an experiential focus.
- Service obligations related to the program as well as departmental and university affiliations.

Minimum Qualifications- J.D. degree and a minimum of three years legal practice experience in domestic violence and family law.
- Admitted to the practice of law in New York State or verifiable ability to gain admission by January 2027.
- Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
- Must be able to engage in limited travel.
- Five years of relevant legal experience.
- Law school or similar teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and locations.
Driving Requirements:
This position will never drive a university-owned vehicle.
$110,000 - $120,000 based on experience.
