Job Description
The Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics in the School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor (12MO), Tenure-Track. The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate expertise in data science, analytics, and big data computational ecosystems.
- Operate effectively within data-intensive computing environments and possess a deep working knowledge of both Python and R for data analytics and big data interfacing.
- Demonstrate a strong background in applied machine learning, statistical modeling, and data mining.
- Teach both online and on-campus sections of core data science training courses, as well as developing specialized emphasis areas or advanced courses
- that align with the School's strategic focus on population health
- and community-engaged research.
- Contribute to the School's commitment to training the next generation of public
- health leaders through excellence in research, service, and interdisciplinary teaching focused on improving health equity within urban and immigrant populations.

Required Qualifications
- Terminal Degree (PhD, MD, ScD).
- Ability to operate effectively within data-intensive computing environments and ecosystems, with analytic expertise in omics data and bioinformatics, and possess a deep working knowledge of machine learning, statistical modeling, and data mining.
- Successful attainment of extramural funding and demonstrated research expertise evidenced by a substantial publication record in high quality journals.
