Part‑time Experienced ESL Teacher position available at ANSOB CENTER FOR REFUGEES INC., Astoria, NY.
We are looking for a part‑time Experienced ESL/Civics Teacher who is a committed, experienced, and reliable individual. The teacher should have at least 2 years of experience teaching adults and should have Zoom classroom management skills as well as in‑person classroom management techniques. We are looking for a quick learner, multitasker, and energetic teacher who has an interest in working with refugees and immigrants and the ability to handle a class of an average of 35–40 adult students via Zoom and/or in person.
The online classes are taught in the morning from 10 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the in‑person class is taught in Astoria, NY from 10 am to 1:30 pm on Mondays.
Our students are adults who vary in age from 18 to 70 years old. They are from 121 different countries as refugees and immigrants and are very eager to learn English and become U.S. citizens. Our students are also very respectful and appreciative of their teachers.
Responsibilities- Taught ESL/Civics classes to adult learners via Zoom and in‑person.
- Managed classroom dynamics and maintained discipline in both virtual and physical settings.
- Prepared and implemented lesson plans tailored to the needs of refugees and immigrants.
- Prepared and delivered content that helps students progress toward U.S. citizenship.
- At least a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, TESOL, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of ESL teaching experience, especially with adults.
- Strong Zoom classroom management skills and in‑person classroom management techniques.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of international students.
