Plato edifies our students, growing their appreciation of Greek heritage. We engage in our work by leveraging a powerful support system comprised of trained teaching staff, volunteers, parents, and friends as well as the community’s youth. Plato seeks to instill values of democracy and leadership by engaging its current students and alumni in service to their community, keeping the spirit of service, democracy, and civic engagement alive.
Our school has prepared and will continue to prepare students to carry forward the spirit of Hellenism in New York.

We currently have positions available for Greek Language Teachers in Brooklyn, NY.
We are looking for Greek language teachers, who will be responsible for teaching our students to master the Greek language, both written and oral instructions, as well as its structure, development, and history. Greek language teachers prepare engaging lesson plans and educational materials for the students’ easy comprehension.
Key Responsibilities- Able to teach the Greek language to young students corresponding to their individual learning needs
- Create and maintain a respectful and fair classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning.
- Monitor, observe, and report student behavior according to school policies and procedures.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents and students through a variety of means, including face-to-face conversations, phone calls, emails, texts, etc.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the school community
- Integrate technology into the curriculum to strengthen the teaching/learning process
- Participate in school events and projects
- Ideal teachers should:
- Be fluent in Speaking, Reading, and Writing in modern Greek
- Be a native speaker of the language OR hold a teaching degree
- Have experience as a language teacher, translator, or interpreter
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Actions and values that align with the school’s mission
- Experience using multiple pedagogical strategies to build and assess student reading comprehension skills, written comprehension skills, and critical thinking
