The Learning Experience
The Learning Experience of Astoria is seeking a qualified, passionate, and dedicated 3-K Lead Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year. This is an immediate opening with a September 1st start date, and we are looking for an experienced early childhood educator who is ready to create a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom where young children can learn, grow, and thrive.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field required
- Experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably in a 3-K, Pre-K, or early childhood classroom
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices
- Ability to create and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and learning experiences
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues
- Familiarity with NYC DOE 3-K expectations, curriculum, assessments, and documentation is strongly preferred
- NYS teaching certification and/or additional credentials are a plus and may impact placement on the applicable salary scale
Responsibilities As our 3-K Lead Teacher, you will:
- Lead a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate 3-K classroom
- Plan and implement meaningful learning experiences aligned with program and DOE expectations
- Support children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, physical, and creative development
- Maintain classroom documentation, assessments, portfolios, and other required records
- Establish consistent classroom routines and a positive learning environment
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding their child's development and classroom experience
- Collaborate with school leadership, support staff, and fellow teachers
- Maintain all classroom and program requirements in accordance with DOE, DOHMH, and school policies
Compensation:
Annual Salary: $56,000–$68,000. Final salary will be determined based on the candidate's education, certification, credentials, and applicable DOE salary/pay scale requirements.
