Visiting Assistant Professor

St. Bonaventure University's (SBU) DePerro School of Health Professions, Department of Occupational Therapy, is seeking applications for a visiting assistant professor for a temporary 9-month appointment, in the Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy Program. The SBU entry-level MSOT program is housed in the DePerro School of Health Professions, which includes professional preparation programs in public health, health science, nursing, physician assistant, and speech-language pathology studies.

Candidates should be dynamic, effective, progressive educators who work well with others and will be expected to teach in their area of expertise, and support the University, community, and the profession through service and scholarly endeavors. Examples

Of Duties

Faculty are expected to engage in the following activities, where appropriate, as part of their normal services:

  • Teaching, including the preparation of course syllabi and classes, the preparation and grading of examinations, the supervision of laboratories and other practica, and the direction of theses, honor projects, and independent study work.
  • Research, publication, and/or professional activity within one's field of specialization or otherwise directed towards the University's mission.
  • MSOT student advisement, with maintenance of reasonable and scheduled office hours.
  • Participation in activities (usually through committee work) designed to advance the mission and quality of the University, School, and Departmental programs. Assignments to routine committee work will be made in consideration of other demands placed on the faculty member by the University.
  • Attendance at Department, School, and general Faculty and University meetings including commencements, convocations, and other official University exercises.
  • Community work outside the University.
  • Typical Qualifications

    Advanced degree (e.g., OTD, EdD, PhD, ScD) is preferred Minimum of 3 years experience in occupational therapy practice Must have Level I and Level II supervision experience. Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education is preferred. Certified by the NBCOT Eligible for licensure in the State of New York
