Company Description
Epiphany Manhattan Academy is a boutique college admissions consultancy in Midtown Manhattan, with a long-standing record of supporting high school students from around the world in their competitive application journeys. We nurture the whole student, guiding learners through the college admissions process from start to finish. As a result, the Academy has helped secure placements to many top colleges and universities throughout the United States, including UPenn Wharton, Harvard, Yale, and Brown PLME.
With a focus on personalized classroom instruction and strategic counseling, Epiphany Manhattan Academy aims to equip students with the skills and confidence that are needed to succeed in the competitive admissions landscape.
This is a part-time, independent contractor role based in-person at our Midtown office. Ideally you have a degree from a Top 50 U.S. college or university, and some prior experience mentoring high school students through the competitive college admissions landscape. You would primarily be assisting students with writing personal statements and supplemental essays for college admissions. You would also interact with families and build a college application roadmap for each individual student, according to their unique interests and profiles.
Some tutoring experience in writing and working with ESL students would be preferable, as we work with a lot of students overseas in China and South Korea. You would also assist our CEO with administrative tasks from time to time. Some remote flexibility allowed, but we prefer our consultants to work in-person with our students, as we find it to be more engaging for them.
Hourly rate to be determined following an interview onsite with our CEO, but typically around $30-40 per hour. Bonus opportunities and performance-based raises are available as well.
- Strong communication and teaching skills, including clear instructional delivery and effective feedback for diverse learners.
- Client relations skills to effectively engage families, build trust, and support enrollment efforts at our Academy and its related co-curricular development programs.
- Experience in college admissions counseling or education, ideally with competitive U.S. university applications.
- Demonstrated expertise in academic and persuasive writing, editing, and structuring application essays.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, English, Communications, Politics, Journalism, or a related field. STEM majors with writing expertise also very welcome!
- Ability to work on-site in Manhattan, manage multiple students and deadlines, and maintain high professional standards.
- Strong familiarity with the U.S. college admissions landscape and standardized application platforms (Common App, Coalition App, University of California, etc.) is highly beneficial.
