Company

Description:

Strive Charter School is a progressive public charter school in the South Bronx, opening in Fall 2026 to serve students in Kindergarten through Grade 4. The school combines rigorous academics in literacy and mathematics with joyful, hands‑on, inquiry-based learning in science and social studies. Strive’s mission is to nurture curiosity, citizenship, and opportunity through meaningful learning experiences and strong support for every child.

The school partners closely with families, offering extended building access, meals, and enrichment programs such as Strive Sunrise and Strive Beyond, as well as weekend and year‑round programming. Located at 604 East 139th Street in the Mott Haven section of The Bronx.

Role

Description:

The Kindergarten Teacher is a full-time, on‑site role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This educator will plan and deliver age‑appropriate lessons that build strong foundations in early literacy, numeracy, and social‑emotional skills, aligned with Strive’s curriculum and approach. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment, guiding hands‑on and inquiry‑based activities, assessing student progress, and using data to inform instruction.

The role also involves collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional learning, and communicating regularly with families to support students’ growth. The Kindergarten Teacher will engage with extended‑day programming when applicable, helping to ensure a consistent, high‑quality experience for students.

Qualifications

  • Strong Teaching and Education skills, with experience in early childhood or elementary settings and familiarity with progressive, inquiry‑based approaches. Experience with the Success for All Foundations curriculum is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Lesson Planning and curriculum implementation, including designing developmentally appropriate, standards‑aligned learning activities.
  • Effective Communication and Training abilities, including clear communication with students, families, and colleagues, and capacity to support student learning in small and whole‑group settings.
  • Relevant academic background; must have a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, and state teaching certification or eligibility for certification is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusivity, and culturally responsive practice, with the ability to build positive relationships in a diverse school community.
  • Strong classroom management, organization, and time‑management skills, with readiness to work in an extended‑day, family‑centered school model.
