About the Program & Course
The New York School of Design (NYSD) is seeking an experienced educator and industry professional to teach our Business Plan Writing for Fashion Business course, the capstone experience of the Entrepreneurship for Fashion Designers program.
Running concurrently with Production Planning, Fashion Trends, and Fashion Marketing, this 45-hour course guides students through synthesizing their knowledge from previous coursework—including Brand Identity & Communication and Strategic Collection Design—into a comprehensive, launch-ready fashion business plan. The course culminates in a final Business Plan Contest, where students present their proposals to a panel of NYSD faculty and fashion industry professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 45 hours of engaging, practical instruction focused on fashion business plan formulation, market strategy, financial forecasting, and pitch preparation.
- Guide students in integrating creative design concepts, production logistics, and marketing strategies into a cohesive business framework.
- Mentor students in crafting persuasive pitch decks and verbal presentations for the final panel review.
- Evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback on business plan drafts, and facilitate the capstone pitch competition.
- Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Fashion Business, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
Proven professional background in fashion entrepreneurship, brand management, business development, or venture creation. Prior college-level teaching experience preferred.
Skills:
Deep understanding of financial planning, go-to-market strategies, supply chain basics, and brand positioning within the fashion industry.
