Junior Instructional Designer

Chippewa Government Solutions LLC, a Sault Tribe Inc. ("STI Federal") company, is searching for a dynamic and skilled Junior Instructional Designer to be a key part of our expanding team!

Key Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes

  • Assist in developing instructional materials such as courses, curriculum, student guides, job aids, SOPs, and training manuals.
  • Support the design of content and layout to optimize learning, ensuring materials meet learner needs and align with program requirements.
  • Incorporate new curriculum content into training materials, including examples, clarifications, and real-world applications relevant to CMEI programs.
  • Help maintain classroom and virtual instructional techniques that promote professionalism, engagement, and effective learning.
  • Contribute to developing alternative teaching strategies and scenarios that maintain learner interest and motivation.
  • Assist senior staff in test analysis tasks, including developing or revising test items, scoring methods, and assessment tools.
  • Implement learning technologies such as visual tools, audio elements, interactive activities, and multimedia enhancements.
  • Work closely with senior instructional designers, graphic designers, and technical subject-matter experts to ensure accuracy and instructional integrity.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities for Success

  • Foundational understanding of instructional design principles and learning theory (coursework acceptable).
  • Ability to create clear, organized learning materials with attention to detail and learner engagement.
  • Early-career experience with learning tools and technologies such as LMS platforms, multimedia tools, or e-learning authoring software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under the direction of senior designers and project leads.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn DOE systems including STRIPES, FAST, PAGE, and PMC.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and alignment with STI Federal's core values.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:

    BA/BS degree.
  • Experience:

    Up to 3 years of relevant instructional design or training development experience.
  • Performs instructional tasks under oversight.
  • Clearance:
    Ability to obtain and/or maintain a federal clearance up to Top Secret/DOE Q clearance levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience:
  • Experience or coursework related to energy systems, critical minerals, applied technologies, or federal program environments.
  • Familiarity with IIJA-funded programs, federal Technical Assistance structures, or multi-stakeholder training needs.
  • Experience assisting with curriculum development for technical, scientific, or regulatory topics.
  • Understanding of adult-learning principles and DOE communication standards.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, accessible instructional content.

Work Environment

  • Environment:
    Work will be performed in a climate-controlled office, remotely or possibly on client sites as needed.
