Educator, DNALC NYC

Position Description

The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is hiring immediate full‑time educator positions at DNALC NYC in Downtown Brooklyn. The selected candidate will join a small, influential group recognized worldwide as a leader in creating and disseminating new methods in genetics education, including genomics, bioinformatics, and data science. Over 700,000 students have participated in DNALC programs and we aim to reach a million and more.

• Provide hands‑on genetics and molecular biology instruction to pre‑college students visiting DNALC for academic year field trips, summer camps, and extended research projects.
• Deliver in‑school instruction.
• Assist with laboratory testing and preparation.
• Conduct teacher training and develop teaching modules.
• Present public tours.

• Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in science (biology or molecular genetics preferred)

• Strong science background with an interest and/or experience in teaching.

• NYS teaching certification preferred, but not required.
• Recent PhD graduates who would like to pursue teaching careers are also encouraged.
• Experience in personal genomics, DNA barcoding, metabarcoding, or bioinformatics is especially desirable.

• Strong content knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work closely with others.
• Self‑starter and highly motivated.
• Availability to travel domestically and internationally.
