The Mannes School of Music at the College of Performing Arts seeks highly motivated students to serve as Staff Pianist, Senior Student Assistant Specialist. We are looking for organized, responsible, and collaborative individuals to support instruction and performances at the Mannes School of Music. This position reports to the Performance and Ensemble Manager at the Mannes School of Music. This is an ideal position for students who are interested in a career as a pianist.
This position is open to student applicants with Federal Work Study awards, as well as student applicants without a Federal Work Study award.
CORE CAPABILITIES, PRIMARY DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIESAccompany instrumental and/or vocal students in private lessons, masterclasses, juries, classes, and/or other performance experiences.
Learn assigned music prior to collaborating with your fellow students (e.g., correct tempi, dynamics, etc.).
Exhibit professionalism in all interactions with students, faculty, staff, and audience members.
Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, and staff in a timely manner regarding private lessons, masterclasses, and/or other performance experiences.
Adhere to departmental guidelines regarding reporting hours, payroll deadlines, and other items.
Current student in the Mannes BM, MM, or PDPL degree programs.
Prior coursework in collaborative skills, and/or equivalent experience.
Extensive knowledge of collaborative piano performance practice with art songs, lieder, sonatas, concerti, and/or other vocal and instrumental solo repertoire
This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement.
SALARY RANGEHourly Rate: $25.00
Hours per Week:
Approximately 10 hours per week, or as needed. Not to exceed 20 hours in a single workweek.
