JCCA is seeking an Internship Coordinator to join our LEAP Community team and help young people turn their interests, talents, and goals into meaningful career experiences.

Funded by the Pinkerton Foundation
, the Mentored Internship Program connects young people in foster care with JCCA employees who serve as Internship Mentors, providing interns with one‑on‑one guidance, professional exposure, and support.

The Internship Coordinator will lead the Mentored Internship Program and oversee additional career readiness, workforce development, and onsite internship initiatives
. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organized, creative, and relationship‑oriented professional who is passionate about helping young people develop the confidence, skills, and connections they need to succeed.

The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate for youth, an effective program coordinator, and a skilled relationship builder who can engage young people, staff, employers, and community partners.

Summary of Job Duties

  • Manage and oversee onsite career readiness and workforce development programs, including Wrap Around, YA WORC
    , and other designated initiatives.
  • Coordinate enrollment, scheduling, program cycles, and implementation of onsite internship and career development programs, including the Mentored Internship Program.
  • Conduct targeted outreach and recruitment of young people from JCCA's foster care and campus service programs.
  • Provide individualized career guidance to help young people identify, apply for, and secure internships aligned with their interests, skills, education, and career goals.
  • Coordinate successful internship placements and provide ongoing coaching, case support, and problem‑solving throughout the internship experience.
Build Meaningful Mentorships
  • Recruit and engage JCCA employees to serve as Internship Mentors, with a focus on staff in non‑client‑facing roles.
  • Develop thoughtful mentor‑intern matches based on each young person’s interests, professional goals, and developmental needs.
  • Develop and facilitate mentor orientations and training.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and technical assistance to mentors to support effective supervision, communication, and relationship‑building.
Develop Career Readiness & Workforce Skills
  • Develop and facilitate engaging career readiness programming that helps young people understand available opportunities and prepares them to successfully enter and navigate the workplace.
  • Facilitate workshops, group discussions, projects, and experiential learning opportunities focused on:
    • Professional development
    • Leadership
    • Communication
    • Teamwork
    • Workplace readiness
    • Career exploration
  • Partner with internal departments, external organizations, and subject‑matter experts to coordinate specialized training, workshops, and resources.
  • Provide ongoing support to program graduates as they transition to employment, internships, postsecondary education, vocational training, or other career and educational pathways.
  • Connect graduates with employment, education, training, and supportive service resources based on their individual goals.
Grow Employer & Community Partnerships
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers and community partners to expand meaningful internship and career development opportunities.
  • Identify new opportunities that provide young people with career exploration, skill‑building, professional networking, and workforce experience.
  • Partner with the Director of LEAP Community to develop and implement strategic marketing and outreach initiatives that increase awareness of internship and career readiness opportunities.
