Role Description This full-time, on-site Substitute Teacher role is based in Brooklyn, NY. The Substitute Teacher will provide classroom instruction in the absence of regular teachers, following existing lesson plans and maintaining a structured, supportive learning environment. Daily responsibilities include delivering age-appropriate lessons, managing classroom behavior, ensuring student safety, and adapting teaching approaches to diverse learning needs. The role also involves collaborating with school staff, documenting student progress and incidents as needed, and adhering to school policies and procedures.
The Substitute Teacher will represent Lens Operations Consulting’s commitment to student success, equity, and professional conduct in every classroom assignment.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in Teaching, Education, and Training to effectively support diverse learners in K–12 classroom settings.
- Candidates should possess strong Lesson Planning and instructional organization skills to follow and, when needed, adapt existing curricula.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills for engaging students, collaborating with school staff, and documenting classroom activities clearly.
- Experience working in urban or underserved school communities is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field preferred; relevant teaching certifications or substitute licenses as required by New York regulations.
- Demonstrated classroom management abilities, reliability, and flexibility in working across multiple grade levels and subject areas.
- Commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive teaching practices and safeguarding student well-being.
