Pay Rate: $30.00 – $35.00 / hour W2
Schedule:
Part-Time (20 Hours / Week – Flexible schedule Monday through Thursday onsite; Fridays remote or off)
Duration: 2-Month Contract (Extension potential through November)

We are seeking a student-centered, detail-oriented P/T Temporary Student Advisor to support undergraduate academic advisement and student success initiatives within a premier university's Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies. Operating in a hybrid capacity for 20 hours per week (onsite Monday through Thursday, with Fridays remote), you will work directly with undergraduate students—guiding them through academic planning, course registration, and referral pathways for academic and personal success.
This role is ideal for an experienced higher education professional or academic counselor who thrives in a student-facing environment.
- Academic Advisement & Course Registration:
Meet individually with undergraduate students to review academic progress, clarify degree requirements, and assist with course selection and registration. - Student Success & Intervention Referrals:
Monitor student engagement and progress; identify students who may need additional support and coordinate warm handoffs/referrals to campus Student Success teams and academic resources. - Student Outreach & Follow‑Up:
Maintain timely proactive follow‑ups via email, phone, and scheduled advising appointments to ensure continuous student retention and progress. - Administrative Records:
Maintain accurate digital student interaction logs and advising notes within institutional record systems.
- Experience:
Prior experience advising, counseling, or supporting students in a higher education / university setting is strongly preferred. Candidates with strong high school academic advising / college guidance experience will also be considered. - Student‑Centric Mindset:
Empathetic, approachable, and proactive communication style with a passion for supporting non‑traditional, adult, or undergraduate student populations. - Administrative Acumen:
Comfort navigating student information systems (SIS), academic tracking tools, and scheduling software. - Schedule & Availability:
Ability to work 20 hours per week (onsite in 10003 Monday–Thursday; Fridays flexible/remote). Immediate availability for a 2‑month assignment. - Education:
Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field preferred.
