The Economics Department of John Jay College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in any field at the Assistant Professor level to begin Fall 2027. The department is dedicated to pluralism and diversity; applicants with a background in heterodox economics are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, develop curricula, serve as course coordinator, and interact effectively with colleagues to support and enhance department culture.

The hiring committee is especially interested in applicants who contribute to the goals of the college through their leadership, community service, research, and/or lived experiences.

Candidates are expected to bring enthusiasm and demonstrated commitment to teaching and to develop and maintain an active research and publication agenda. Ph.D. degree in Economics or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, the potential for scholarly productivity, willingness to participate in course and program development, and the ability to work with others for the good of institution. Candidates are expected to bring enthusiasm and a commitment to teaching, service and scholarship.

Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience within the range of $73,294 - $102,460.
