The School of Arts and Humanities at Lehman College seeks an Academic Internship Specialist for its Arts and Humanities Experiential Learning Program. The Internship Specialist will assist the Dean and the Associate Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities in advancing the School's mission of preparing students for successful and socially responsible careers through high-impact, co-curricular learning opportunities.

Reporting to the Dean, and working with the Associate Dean, the faculty, and students, the Internship Specialist will develop and expand experiential learning initiatives across the School. Key responsibilities include creating new partnerships with organizations and employers who provide internships and other experiential learning opportunities for students, and maintaining and expanding existing partnerships.

Responsibilities
  • Create and conduct orientation sessions and workshops for students in the School of Arts and Humanities Experiential Learning Program; coordinate applications, interviews, and placement in experiential learning opportunities, including internships and service projects
  • Assist in identifying, establishing, and maintaining relationships with a range of partners - corporate, nonprofit, and government partners - to create experiential learning opportunities
  • Supervise student internships and service projects, ensuring that they foster student development, enhance academic learning, and promote career readiness, and that they adhere to College and governmental policies and regulations
  • Organize faculty orientation and development in relation to the Arts and Humanities Experiential Learning Program
  • Assist the School of Arts and Humanities in evaluating program effectiveness through data collection and analysis to guide ongoing improvement
  • Identify and build relationships with career services and mentorship initiatives at Lehman College;
    Represent the School of Arts and Humanities at recruitment events and student fairs
  • Assist the School of Arts and Humanities in tracking and maintaining records and databases of student engagement in experiential learning activities, including tracking post-graduate outcomes
  • Attend, when necessary, School Executive Committee meetings and department meetings to report on progress in securing partners, internships, and service-learning opportunities
  • Act as a liaison with external partners and promote the value of experiential learning both within and outside the College
  • Generate reports that showcase program growth and student success stories
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years' related experience required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience in an academic field within Arts and Humanities. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in student services, career services, human resources, or a related field is required.

Experience in managing partner relationships and creating professional development opportunities for college students or young professionals.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage a diverse range of students, employers, and campus stakeholders…
