Position Summary:

The Group Leader supports the daily operation of the Bronx House Teen Program by creating a safe, welcoming, structured, and engaging environment for tweens and teens. This position works directly with participants, encourages involvement in activities, assists with attendance and program expectations, and helps ensure that youth are actively participating. The ideal Group Leader is energetic, dependable, approachable, organized, and comfortable building positive relationships with teens.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome teens and tweens into the program and help maintain a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Supervise participants in the Teen Lounge and other designated program spaces.
  • Actively engage with teens and encourage participants to join scheduled activities, workshops, special events, and programs.
  • Assist facilitators with activities such as music production, dance, fitness, arts, workshops, games, and other enrichment programming.
  • Support homework and designated academic time when needed.
  • Monitor daily attendance, make sure participants properly check in, and help track participation.
  • Communicate program expectations and schedules clearly to participants.
  • Help teens transition between activities and program spaces.
  • Help plan and lead games, group activities, challenges, tournaments, theme days, and other activities that keep programming fresh and interesting.
  • Assist with special events, trips, college visits, workshops, and other Teen Program opportunities.
  • Assist with recruitment and outreach efforts when needed, including promoting upcoming activities.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with teens or youth is preferred.
  • Comfortable working with youth ages 11-19.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to follow through with assigned responsibilities.
  • Able to take initiative and engage teens.
  • Comfortable leading or assisting with recreational and enrichment activities.
  • Able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with youth.
  • Able to manage conflict calmly and appropriately.
  • Willing to work collaboratively with program staff, instructors, facilitators, and Bronx House leadership.
