Position Summary
The Assistant Director is responsible for career advising and counseling for current students and recent alumni; the design and administration of internship programs;employer relations and partnership development; and the creation and delivery of programming that prepares students forsuccessfulexperiential learning,career and graduate school outcomes. The Assistant Directorwillworkclosely with campus faculty, staff, and university-wide Experiential Education and Career Development colleagues to deliveran integrated, high-quality student experience alignedwiththebroader mission of experiential learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1.Career Advising and Student Development- Provide individualized career counseling and coaching to current students and recent alumni on career exploration, decision-making,self-assessment, goal setting, job and internship and experiential search strategies, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, and graduate and professional school admissions.
- Utilize evidence-based career development frameworks and assessment toolsto support students across all stages of their career journey, from orientation through graduation and beyond.
- Present career development programming to first-year students during New Student Orientation, introducing the full scope of services available through EECD.
- Develop,cultivate, and maintain employer relationships and networks toexpand the range of internship, job, and experiential learning opportunities available to students
- Build andmanage a robust pipeline of employer partners across New York Cityand beyond, with particular focus on industries relevant to MMCstudent populations
- Oversee the databases of jobs, internships, and volunteer positions; manage employer events including information sessions, site visits, and tabling; and engage faculty to promote employer classroom visits
- Collaborate with university-wide Experiential Partnerships Development colleagues to align MMCemployer engagement strategies with institutional key account priorities and industry sector goals
- Track,analyze, and report on employer outreach targets, partnership activity, and program outcomes to inform strategic planning
- Design,develop, and deliver a comprehensive calendar of career workshops and programs covering resume and cover letter writing,interviewing, job search strategies, networking, Linked In andsocial media, graduate school preparation, and other relevant topics
- Initiate special programming and projects responsive to changing student needs and evolving marketplace trends
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student organizations to design and deliver integrated career development programming; build effective partnerships through ongoing communication and consultation
- Management of communications across all social media platforms and the campus engagement platform; develop content that promotes programs,events, and student and alumni success stories
- Plan and execute large-scale office events and contribute to division-wide programming initiatives
- Recruit,hire, train, supervise, and develop federal work-study students andother staff or student employees within the office, including scheduling, workflow management, and payroll oversight.
