• Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all staff and participants and promotes a positive program spirit.
• Facilitate effective outreach tohard-to-reach youth and young adults who do not participate in afterschoolor community center programs.
• Effectively forge relationships with youthwho are chronically absent or have dropped outof schooland persuade them to engage in Beacon programming and school.
• Act as a “credible messenger”, maintain strong community connections, and address conflicts that have the potential to undermine community cohesion and trigger violent clashes.
• Assist in the marketing and distribution ofprogram information and recruitment in communities that might otherwise attend beacon programming.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders and parents/guardians through regular communication.
• Ensure participants' health, safety, andwell-being by understanding, maintaining, and ensuring that staff and participants follow Risk Management and safety procedures.
• Report all incidents in accordance with theY policies and procedures.
• Work with Counselors and the Beacon Director to plan and implement meaningful programming and special events.
• Support the development and facilitation of required pre-program training. Actively participate in training sessions,designated meetings, and special events.
• Adhere to all Department of Health,Department of Education, DYCD, YMCA of Greater New York, and funderstandards, expectations, and regulations.

• Minimum of two (2) years of education in a program area related to working with youth and/or communities.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with youth, families, and community development, including social and emotional learning, skill-building, youth leadership, neighborhood priorities, trauma-informed approaches, provision of services for individuals with disabilities, and cultural competence, including sensitivity to LGBTQ issues.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities, and comfortable working with diverse youth and adults.
