ContentResponsibilities
- Collaborate and co-plan with classroom teachers to scaffold GUGCS curricular programs for ELLs
- Facilitate push-in and pull-out direct instruction with English Language Learners, (ELLs), and former ELLs
- Determine students needs by analyzing Home Language Questionnaires and administering the NYSITELL and NYSESLAT exams as needed
- Review formal and informal assessment data with classroom teachers and/or advisors in order to track student progress and ensure the proper amount of support
- Keep families informed of student performance and progress
- Employ approaches that address multiple types of learners, (visual, sensory, kinesthetic, audio)
- Actively participate in the school community through staff meetings, professional development opportunities, staff committees, and school events.
- Respond productively to ongoing, year-round professional feedback
- Utilize the Developmental Designs approach to discipline and community-building
- Establish and maintain ongoing positive relationships and communication with families
- Actively participate in the school community: weekly staff meetings, PD opportunities, department meetings, and school events
- Work with an instructional coach on improving teaching practices throughout the year
- Respond productively to ongoing, year-round professional feedback
- Demonstrate commitment to working with diverse populations of families and students, including those at-risk
- Perform other school-wide responsibilities
- Strong commitment to Growing Up Green Charter School's mission
- Strong commitment to a multi-sensory teaching approach
- Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers
- Demonstrates initiative and flexibility in scheduling changes to meet all student needs
- Excellent organizational skills
- Deep respect for other cultures and customs
- Experience teaching middle school students is preferred
- Starting salary is $66,538 and is eligible for an additional $3,500 stipend as Lead MLL Teacher - which serves as a teacher-leader who supports the implementation of high-quality multilingual learner (MLL) programming across the school. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience as lead teacher in a K-12 setting and levels of attained education
- Master's Degree Preferred
- Teaching Certification in TESOL or equivalent required
- NY State teaching certification
- Candidates fluent in Spanish are highly encouraged to apply
