The Center for Inclusivity and Equal Opportunity (“CIEO” or “Center”) was established by the Board of Trustees and the Chancellor for the City University of New York (“CUNY” or the “University”) in June 2024, as part of CUNY’s ongoing efforts to combat discrimination and harassment, and CUNY’s ongoing efforts to continuously foster understanding amongst our diverse community members. The Center is responsible for: systemwide report management and compliance pertaining to discrimination and harassment, policy review, development, and implementation of all CUNY policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment, regular and comprehensive training and orientation for administrators implementing CUNY’s policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment, systemwide educational programming addressing discrimination and harassment, and monitoring and analyzing discrimination and harassment data obtained from all 26 campuses in the CUNY system and from the Central Office.

The goal of the Center is to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the CUNY community, including discrimination and harassment that violates Title II, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, and associated federal, state, and local civil rights laws.

Reporting to Deputy Director for Educational Programming, Training and Orientation, the Assistant Deputy Director for Educational Programming, Training and Orientation will focus on: using data to enhance the cultural competencies of CUNY community members in furtherance of CUNY’s efforts to eliminate discrimination and harassment within the CUNY community, lead the systemwide plan to provide regular and comprehensive programs and events fostering safe, supportive, and inclusive educational spaces that are free from discrimination and harassment, and implement the effectiveness of CUNY’s educational programming, trainings, and orientations addressing discrimination and harassment.

The Assistant Deputy Director will rely on system-wide data to provide centralized, regular, and comprehensive partnership and support to the 26 campuses in the CUNY system and the Central Office.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview information, key duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Implements and utilizes advanced tracking for case management system; analyzes outcomes to optimize system efficiency and user experience and outcomes.

• Designs and develops customized targeted training curricula aligned with case management system workflows to enhance user competence and system proficiency.

• Manages interactive live and virtual training sessions on civil rights compliance, institutional policies and procedures, and standards for meticulous case documentation.

• Evaluates training efficacy and success through participant feedback, refining methodologies to maximize learning outcomes and system integration.

• Implements monitoring protocols to ensure consistent training session attendance, identifying barriers to participation for adjustments.

• Develops innovative instructional materials to facilitate diverse learning styles and enhance knowledge retention.

• Participates in educational programming, training, and orientation sessions cultivating an inclusive environment that champions and fosters respect, pluralism and cultural competency.

• Performs related duties as assigned to support the department’s diversity and inclusion objectives.

Minimum:

Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
