DESCRIPTION

THE POSITION

The Education & Engagement Assistant is a full-time, salaried position that reports to the New Works Director, as well as to the Member Services Director on member education initiatives. This position is a vital part of the seven‑person NAMT team that is dedicated to providing outstanding service to our members and the field.

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):

Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge for High School Students

  • Coordinate and track national outreach efforts; research/recommend/implement new outreach avenues
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts including research, project design and outreach implementation via email and social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with NAMT students, artists, mentors, panelists, members or other partners in promotion efforts, curriculum-building and/or relationship-building.
  • Manage application process, from submission through selection
    • Track applications in Submittable online portal and serve as key point of contact for applicants.
    • Manage communications with student applicants to address queries, redirect questions and provide support.
    • Support the recruitment of NAMT Members, Alumni Artists, Educators and Partners to serve on the Challenge Feedback Team and Selection Committee.
  • Develop curriculum for NAMT’s free online education events.
  • Assist in the research, planning and execution of events including outlines, scripts, slideshows and any additional materials.
  • Collaborate with NAMT Alumni Artists to serve as Mentors for events.
  • Track and report registration for events and facilitate creation and distribution of attendee & participant materials as necessary.
  • Maintain online educational materials and resources in the NAMT Songwriting Resource Center.
  • Update Resource Center during NAMT’s “Writing is Rewriting” campaign between Draft 1 and Draft 2 Submissions.
  • Serve as primary point person for Winners Weekend, for winners and chaperones
    • Facilitate meetings between Student Winners and Challenge Mentors (logistics and agenda).
    • Manage all travel and lodging logistics (on‑site at hotel throughout Winners Weekend).
    • Provide detailed Winners Weekend schedule to all participants.
    • Be an available resource for all student, chaperone and NAMT staff needs throughout Winners Weekend, providing support wherever needed.

Summer Internship Program for Challenge Alumni

  • Create and post the annual summer internship listing for Challenge Alumni.
  • Distribute the posting to Challenge Alumni and encourage applications.
  • Participate in the interview and selection process for incoming interns.
  • Oversee the interns throughout the summer, serving as their primary point of contact and supervisor.
  • Coordinate with NAMT staff on potential projects and tasks for the interns.

NAMT Festival of New Musicals

  • Assist with Festival Committee preparation and meetings.
  • Oversee the outreach, organization and coordination of Volunteers at the Festival.
  • Serve as Line Producer where needed for supplemental Responsibilities may include sending offers to artists, organizing music materials and script, coordinating rehearsals, facilitating soundcheck and managing backstage during the performance.
  • Assist and support the Festival producing team as needed.
  • Assist with media activities as needed.
