Associate Director of Residence Ministry, Catholic Scholars and Community Development

Queens campus

• Supervise the Assistant Director of Residence Ministry for Catholic Scholars
• Ensure that budget is allocated and all protocol is followed for fiscal accountability
• Collaborate with the Director to support the Catholic Scholars and Residence Ministry responsibilities in this role
• Follow all RED development process
• Supervise the Graduate Assistant for Catholic Scholars and Residence Ministry

• Serve as a Permanent Residence (24/7) living in Janetschek Hall
• Support Janetschek, O’Connor, and Carey Halls
• Attend, when applicable, RA floor meetings, RA appreciation or other Residence Life (RA/RD) related events
  • Serve as part of Emergency Response Team;
    Provide support, pastoral counseling, mission presence and mission programming in Residence Halls
  • 5:30 Sunday Mass Responsibility
• rotate coverage with Residence Ministry team and responsible for community/hospitality efforts)
• Move-In Mass and 5:30 Mass…responsibilities include outreach and recruitment to build and sustain on-campus student attendance.
  • Attend all RD training
• Host and facilitate cross professional development with particular mission in-services offered
• Attend all RA training
  • Particular mission tone setter in August
  • Particular January retreat effort
• Attend RA selection(every Spring semester) and RD hiring, when applicable
• Attend Residence Life Weekly Staff meeting once a month
  • Tuesday afternoons 1:30-3:30. 4th Tuesday of the month in October, November, February, March and April
• Duty Rotation
• Bereavement/Pastoral Ministry in the Residence Halls (presence)
• Initiatives offered by the Residence Ministers as signature “mission traditions” programming (connected to RA programming and Residence Hall Councils) – some of these supported by GA for CS/RM.
• Blessing of Dorms – Move-In Weekend
• Sunday Mass imbedded in Move-In Weekendand for Students weekly
• Theology on Tap
• Agape Latte/Café de Paul/Cafecito con Jesus
• The Chosen/Jim Martin Series
• Vincentian Service In-Service

• Responsible to develop Catholic formation and leadership within junior (third) year cohort. Hold Queens students accountable to program expectations.
• Develop, facilitate, and manage August retreat and fall and semester weekend retreat days.
• Oversee Apostolate Year aspect of junior year including the coordination of parish assignments for commuter and residents, executing external assessments with parish partners, and working with the Graduate Assistant who works with this project.
• Facilitate one‑on‑one formation meetings with all scholars each semester.
• Serve on application selection committee in Spring semester.
• Serve on rotation for coverage of CS Abroad pilgrimage.
• When applicable, facilitate and/or oversee special trainings, lectures, or workshops.

• Oversee and develop Hispanic Ministry
• Develop student leadership
• Work with faculty, admin and staff committee
• Oversee biweekly Spanish Mass, Monthly Spanish rosary and occasional semester programming.
• Ensure that budget is allocated and all protocol is followed for fiscal accountability
• Collaborate across campus with groups including, but not limited to, LASO, EPIC/RISE, OMA, etc…
• Conduct research into St. John’s being recognized as a Hispanic-serving institution. Begin collaborating to develop plans for campus ministry to foster best practice ministry in assisting with retention, persistence, and graduation rates.
