DescriptionThe Department of Mathematics at the Courant Institute School for Mathematics, Computing, and Data Science is calling for applications for Assistant Professor positions in applied mathematics and mathematics, beginning in September 2027. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Applied mathematics for Physical and Life Sciences, Combinatorics, Algebra/Number Theory, and Scientific computing.
The Courant Institute School's Math Department offers an outstanding scholarly environment for mathematical and interdisciplinary research. It has a long and world-renowned tradition in both pure and applied mathematics and in bridging between them. Mathematics at Courant benefits from the proximity and interdisciplinarity of the school's Computer Science and Data Science (CDS) departments.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position (Assistant Professor) is $100,000 - $150,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and market and organization considerations.
QualificationsCandidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field.
