Lead Teacher

Job Description

The Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, stimulating, and safe

learning environment for young children in the daycare. This role involves implementing

age-appropriate curriculum, fostering social and emotional development, and maintaining

open communication with parents and caregivers.

Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Planning and Implementation

- Develop and implement lesson plans and activities that promote the physical, cognitive,

social, and emotional development of children.

- Create a structured daily schedule that includes educational, recreational, and rest

periods.

- Incorporate play-based learning activities that encourage creativity, exploration, and

problem-solving.

2. Child Guidance and Support:

- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all children feel valued

and respected.

- Provide individualized attention and support to meet the unique needs of each child.

- Model positive behavior and teach conflict resolution and social skills.

3. Safety and Supervision:

- Maintain a safe and hygienic environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.

- Supervise children at all times, both indoors and outdoors, to ensure their well-being and

prevent accidents.

- Follow emergency procedures and protocols in the event of illness, injury, or other

emergencies.

4. Parent Communication:

- Establish and maintain open, ongoing communication with parents and caregivers

regarding their childs progress, behavior, and needs.

- Provide regular updates and feedback through verbal communication, written reports,

and parent-teacher conferences.

- Collaborate with parents to address any concerns or challenges and develop strategies

for supporting their childs development.

5. Professional Development:

- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current

with best practices in early childhood education.

- Seek feedback and reflect on teaching practices to continuously improve the quality of

care and instruction provided to children.

Qualifications:

- Daycare teacher or volunteer must meet the qualifications outlined in the State OCFS rules

and regulations.

- Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field

(preferred) or Associate degree in Early childhood, child development or related field

- Previous 1 year experience working with young children in a daycare, preschool, or similar

setting.

- Knowledge of child development principles, early childhood education theories, and best

practices.

- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with children and families.

- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
